One-time licensing versus yearly updates
Separate perpetual usage rights from access to new releases and choose the right renewal, hosting and support scope.
Contents
A one-time Webfly license gives perpetual use of releases published up to your purchase. Yearly updates add access to releases published during a 12-month term. An expired update term does not end the software license; it ends access to new releases.
When does a one-time license fit?
Consider it when a particular release meets your needs and you will manage hosting yourself. It does not include every future release. You still need to maintain the software and keep your site operating securely.
What do yearly updates add?
You receive access to new releases and their features during the active term. Check entitlement dates in your account's license details. Before installing an update, review backup and compatibility checks. Read release notes for delivered features; do not base a purchase on an unpublished feature.
What happens without renewal?
Your existing licensed site and panel on your own hosting remain usable; access to new releases ends. You must separately maintain the domain and hosting. A hosted plan requires yearly hosting renewal: a perpetual software license does not mean perpetual hosting.
Is support included?
Opening a support ticket from your account is free. When offered, yearly priority WhatsApp support can be added separately. Updates, hosting and priority support are different entitlements; one term does not determine the others.
Make your choice
Start by choosing a suitable theme. Decide whether you regularly need new releases and who will manage hosting. Compare plans and pricing for availability, term and total cost. Read the license agreement before buying. Contact us if installation or renewal requirements are unclear.
